BTS Melbourne is doing some great work through a newly formed partnership with a non-profit organization called the Global Consulting Group.

The Global Consulting Group (GCG) is a “pro-bono consulting firm that brings together not-for-profits, consulting professionals and students to create a real impact on social issues around the world.” They do this by connecting university students with experienced professionals who then work together to solve business problems for other charities. BTS Melbourne’s partnership with GCG was organized by BTS consultant Christian Keel, who had reached out to the GCG chairperson as he had worked with them previously at a prior job.

As part of this relationship, BTS helps disseminate professional expertise to students at Melbourne Business School. BTSers are also providing industry expertise, coaching and operations management to build the capabilities of the 50+ active consultants currently working through GCG to develop solutions for the not-for-profit sector.

This past March, Christian and three other BTSers from the Melbourne office facilitated a case study competition in conjunction with GCG and the Melbourne Business School that saw 25 teams of 5 students (selected from 250 applicants) deliver solutions to a case study that the BTSers had created, and compete for a substantial prize. This case study was based on an existing BTS energy wholesale and retail client. The competing teams had to identify industry trends, the company’s key performance indicators and objectives for growth, and develop innovative solutions.
