Who we Seek
We currently seek a Sr. Consultant for our Project Leadership & Management Practice (PL & M). This position can be located in Chicago, IL, New York, NY or San Francisco, CA. Working collaboratively with the Global Leader (Managing Director) for the Project Leadership & Management Practice and BTS Account Managers, this individual will be responsible for developing and growing the practice from $2 million (current state) to $10 million annually in sales over the next 5 years.
Responsibilities include
- Partner with the BTS account management teams to sell PL & M learning solutions
- Demonstrate and communicate the philosophy of BTS solutions emphasizing how
PL & M offerings will accelerate client business results
- Conduct effective sales meetings and deliver superior interactive
sales presentations
- Write and communicate winning proposals for prospective clients
- Be a “trusted advisor” to BTS clients on project leadership and
management
- Target PL & M professionals, HR/L&D professional decision makers,
and executives who “own” a project portfolio or strategic initiative in
need of PL & M support
- Identify and close new sales opportunities for PL & M capabilities in existing
BTS accounts and at new clients
- Emphasis on cross-selling with existing clients to grow and deepen those
relationships
- Identify new opportunities at all levels and all practice areas in
client organizations
- Integrate PL & M into existing BTS capabilities, including business acumen
and other leadership offerings
- At least 25% of time in client-facing sales activities including face-to-face
meetings and conference calls
- Will work with Practice Leader to grow practice at a rate of 40% per year or
10% above company growth whichever is greater to reach $10 million in sales in
5 years
- Provide internal marketing and sales support for PL & M
- Increase BTS internal “mindshare” for PL & M as a viable target in project
intensive industries and functions such as Financial Services, IT, High Tech,
Engineering, Oil and Gas, Defense and Aerospace, new product development,
pharmaceuticals, etc
- Increase BTS internal “mindshare” for PL & M as an important component of the
Front-Line Execution go to market approach of the L&M practice
- Become a primary source of subject matter expertise on PL & M, with relative
focus on “technical” PL & M
- Travel amongst BTS offices to support sales and client work
- Develop sales tools and techniques
- Support consultants and account managers on learning how to write better
proposals and sell PL & M programs and initiatives by becoming “trusted advisors”
to their clients on PL & M
- Segment and target both PL & M professionals, HR / L&D professional
decision makers, and executives responsible for the execution of major
initiatives involving a portfolio of projects
- Provide ongoing market and competitor research on PL & M
- Extend BTS’ PL & M capabilities by designing new learning solutions and programs:
- Conceptualize new custom, discovery-based learning solutions
- Interview executives and others in client organizations to identify desired
business results, behavior change, skills, and knowledge
- Run train-the-trainer programs for all PL & M capabilities
- Deliver 50+ days of billable PL & M (and other programs) annually
- Master existing BTS PL & M and other solutions
- Master BTS’ unique approach to discovery-driven learning through business
simulation
- Deliver 35+ days of development work on custom simulations for clients including data
gathering, contributing subject matter expertise, design input and implementation
- Serve as a resource for other practices and capabilities (including selling,
designing and delivering), as needed
- Secondary source of subject matter expertise and delivery capacity for
Leadership practice area
Ideal Candidates will have
- Bachelors degree, MBA or advanced degree preferred
- PMP Certification
- Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of the Leadership (people) and Business
side of Project Leadership & Management
- 10-15 years experience in project management within a professional services
environment (training or consulting preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership achievement
- Ability to identify and address the needs of senior level executives and
business leaders
- Business-results focus, with quantifiable examples for companies worked for
in the past
- Passionate about learning and development
- Some design skills and ability to impact map
- Ability to sell a vision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate
effectively at all levels
- Willingness to travel (30%-50%) but will be higher in the first year
due to training
