BTS Singapore: Powering the Next Generation of Social Service Sector Leaders

September, 2020

For the second year running, BTS is glad to power National Council of Social Service (NCSS) 40-under-40 programme. Bringing together 40 young, promising social service sector leaders from diverse backgrounds and prominent leaders in the Singapore government, the three-day programme provides a platform to engage in meaningful exchanges, and share aspirations and commitment to bring about social change.

This year’s programme called on the young leaders to be bold and innovative in solving problems and driving change in anticipation of a new normal in the post-Covid-19 world. Participants delved into what the future of social sector could look like, collaborating to ‘rewrite the brief’ to achieve the possibilities within their industries and domains.

The community of young leaders also got the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob, facilitated by our resident Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Manas Mainrai. They also heard from Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration Desmond Lee and Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin.

Sharing with The Straits Times in an article, NCSS president Anita Fam mentioned, “In addition to being a leadership forum, the programme builds a network of the next generation of leaders who can, in turn, leverage each other's strengths and experiences to respond to increasingly complex needs."

The BTS team is glad to be involved with this initiative again this year, working with counterparts in NCSS to create a memorable experience. Despite the shift in the way the programme was held due to circuit breaker measures, the team stayed open and adapted to make the programme an enriching and valuable one. We look forward to the continued partnership with NCSS in the social service, in preparation the next generation of leaders with the right mindset, capabilities and skills.
