BTS Office Outreach: BTS Melbourne & Global Consulting Group

April, 2016

BTS Melbourne’s partnership with non-profit Global Consulting Group positively impacts students.

The Global Consulting Group (GCG) is a “pro-bono consulting firm that brings together not-for-profits, consulting professionals and students to create a real impact on social issues around the world.” The organization connects university students with experienced professionals who then work together to solve business problems for charities. BTS Melbourne’s partnership with GCG was organized by former consultant Christian Keel, who had worked with the GCG at his previous employer.

As part of this relationship, BTS disseminates professional expertise to students at Melbourne Business School. BTSers also provide industry expertise, coaching, and operations management to build the capabilities of consultants currently working through GCG to develop solutions for the non-profit sector.

This past March, Christian and three other BTSers from the Melbourne office facilitated a case study competition in conjunction with GCG and the Melbourne Business School. 25 teams of five students (selected from 250 applicants) delivered solutions to a case study that the BTSers had created based on an existing BTS energy wholesale and retail client. The competing teams had to identify industry trends, the company’s KPIs, growth objectives, and develop innovative solutions to win a substantial prize.
